25/04/10 T has been talking about relocating to somewhere where there is a more laid-back lifestyle such as Australia. Somewhere he can work less hours so that he doesn't miss out on seeing his kid grow up.
That is such a good idea and it's closer to Malaysia too. one of my friend in UK, she has been thikning about that too, Uk is too far away from her family...
No lah. Australia not really an interested place. In summer, the flies are so many that you just open the mouth they can fly into your mouth. And the only city i like in australia is sydney. And I dont think it is closer to malaysia too except you stay in perth. Else more than 8 hours too. Not that much different between UK to malaysia. To be honest, if I have choice.. I will stay in UK instead of Australia. In Australia, i always feel that I saw 'asian' more than 'western'.
I suggested we relocate to Asia but he rejected it straightaway. He doesn't like the education systems in Asia. He prefers to stay in an English speaking country where people generally are more open-minded, less 'kiasu and kiasi". He loves London and his job. He doesn't mind the long hours now but not after the arrival of the baby. I love it here and have my reservation about moving to Aus. We haven't been there so I don't know what it's like. We need to go there and check it out before we make the decision. The thing is I don't know when he will have the time to go and have a look.
I think Australia is very much like Asia for kiasu and kiasi now. I read a FB friend's friend complaint that even primary school's not only Asian sent their children for tuition. And act very kiasu. If come back to Asia, can always go to International School if you want.
As for the education issue, he is absolutely right! However, you still can have western system in Asia ~ i.e. opt for international school :P
And for the working hours ~ I don't think there will have any different relocating to other country, I think the working hours all depends on company and your work responsibility (that's what I am experiencing now!!! my hubby workload and working hours are triple compare to when he was in London office!!)
